Kensington Primary School students and Melbourne lord mayor John So are raising the flag for upcoming Melbourne Day.

Schools in Melbourne will receive a special flag to help them commemorate Melbourne Day, which takes place on August 30.

This year marks 173 years since Melbourne was founded, when European settlers first landed on the northern banks of the Yarra River.
